Although it happened in the last quarter of the year, the arrest of Carlos Ghosn was one of the most noted events of 2018. The automobile industry giant was arrested on the claims of underreporting his earnings and a few other claims. Now, Carlos Ghosn says that he is the victim of a Nissan plot, in which Nissan executives acted against him to cause the downfall.
According to Ghosn, he has no doubt that Nissan executives have involved in plot and treason to cause the arrest of Carlos Ghosn, allegedly based on wrong charges. Ghosn says that the actions are due to the conflict of opinion between the automaker giant and Nissan executives. Apparently, Ghosn was trying to deepen the ties between Nissan and Renault, a move that wasn’t loved by executives at Nissan.
All these details were shared by Ghosn during an interview he had with Nikkei. It should be noted that this is the first interview to get the words from Ghosn since his arrest that happened in November. Until now, all the stories were non-inclusive of Ghosn’s version and were based on the court hearings. During this period, Carlos Ghosn has lost many positions, at Mitsubishi, Nissan and Renault.
“Ghosn said his purchase of luxury properties in Rio de Janeiro and Beirut — which Nissan alleges were paid for improperly through a subsidiary — were approved by the legal department. Pointing to a former loyalist and long-time executive in the legal department, Ghosn said: “Hari Nada has done all this,” reports Nikkei, as a part of the interview.
It is needless to say that the arrest of Carlos Ghosn has become the hot topic of discussion in the world of automobile business. More importantly, the alliance between Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi are at stake, considering that the pivotal person behind the venture is still under detention.
