It’s not normally easy for Chinese companies to reach the top part of US markets, and only a few companies have managed to do that. According to a senior market analyst, however, OnePlus is near to achieving that dream. As per the press release shared by OnePlus, the company has become one of the top 5 smartphone companies in the US market, in the $500+ products.
“OnePlus, a global leader in flagship devices, has emerged as one of the top 5 smartphone brands in the greater than $500 segment in the US in Q4 2018. According to IDC, OnePlus was able to ship enough volume in 4Q18 to grab a top 5 position in terms of market share over $500 dollars in the US,” reads the official press release from the company.
It is clear that the fourth quarter of 2018 has been quite beneficial for OnePlus, since its products did have high market-demand as well as other features. Considering that OnePlus made it to the US market just five years before, the growth is commendable indeed. Before that, OnePlus was focusing on Chinese and South Asian markets.
“It’s been over five years since we launched our first phone in the US, initially as an online-only offering. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about the future ahead,” Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus was quoted saying. It has been known to the world that the company has been trying to capture the US market for half a decade.
It seems that the success of OnePlus 6T, which came with on-screen fingerprint scanner and T-Mobile, was a huge help for the company. This report comes right after the announcement that OnePlus was selected as the number one premium smartphone brand in India, one of the other markets in focus.
