If you wanted to download the Westworld game for Android or iOS from the official store, it may not be that easy from now. According to the latest reports, Behavior Interactive has pulled Westworld Mobile from both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. It means users cannot download the app from official sources. The firm has not specified if there are other ways to download the game, but it’s very unlikely.
It should be noted that the game would be completely closed in April of 2019, after which existing users will not be able to play the game. The developer has already turned off in-app purchases, meaning that you are on your own to survive in the world. “We are sorry to see the Westworld mobile game go. And we had an incredible time creating new content and events for players to enjoy. We deeply appreciate our community’s enthusiasm and participation in the game,” said the official statement.
The decision was due to the legal battle that took place between Behavior Interactive, Warner Bros and the popular game studio Bethesda. Bethesda had accused Behavior Interactive of blatantly copying the setting an gameplay of the game Fallout Shelter. It was announced earlier this month that both the parties have reached an amicable agreement, although no details were revealed.
Now that the game is not available for download, it can be figured that the plan was to stop offering the game to customers. For now, users who have downloaded Westworld Mobile would be able to play the game — exactly until April 2019, when the company will be pulling the plug. While the game was said to be inspired by Westworld HBO Series, it had copied a few elements, designs and animations from the Bethesda title Fallout Shelter.
